Wayfarer Coastal Sail with Dundee Sailing Club

Wayfarers on Elie beach

Five sailing dinghies and a safety rib from Dundee Sailing Club along with 2 Elie club members, Roy Mclean  & David Chalmers set off from from Broughty Ferry down the Tay at 8.30 am on Sat 4th Aug 2018 to the pool buoy . Tide was full so we crossed through the pool to St Andrews bay, a wonderful site as we sailed through 200 hundred plus seals. We reached to Fife Ness where we re- grouped and had lunch hoving-to . As the wind had strengthened, we all put in our first reef.  The fun then began as we tacked down the Fife coast in a 20 knot southwestly reaching Elie 4.30pm. A lot of spray and tacking!
The boats were pulled up the beach, and we were greeted by our Commodore with hot tea/cake. Thank you Marilyn.  The Barbecue was lit and other Elie members joined us for a relaxing evening of banter/boat talk . Some tents were pitched around the clubhouse and others just bedded down on the clubhouse floor .

On Sunday, a 7am start with breakfast cooked on the barbecue . David Swift & Charles Drace-Frances joined us for
the return leg. A great run dowto Fife ness in a fresh south westerly, where we re-grouped and headed to the pool at Tentsmuir forest . The tide was low so we landed on Tentsmuir beach for a chat / seal watch while the pool re flooded . We beat up the Tay in gusty conditions arriving at Dundee Sailing Club 4pm

A great /fun weekend of sailing Hopefully we can make this a regular joint event with Dundee sailing club .
